For Deaf and hard-of-hearing Hoosiers, that spread has often made finding a signing therapist or counselor genuinely difficult — the nearest fluent clinician might be hours away, or unavailable altogether. My Deaf Therapy was built to change that. Our licensed, ASL-fluent therapists and counselors provide counseling and therapy directly in American Sign Language, so nothing you share is filtered through a third person. No interpreter in the room. No spending your first sessions explaining Deaf culture before the real work can start.

Indiana has a proud Deaf history, and the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis — one of the oldest and most respected Deaf schools in the country — is an important part of it. But Indiana's Deaf community is far bigger than any one school: many Deaf Hoosiers grew up mainstreamed in hearing public schools, others attended Deaf programs here or elsewhere, and Deaf life is active today across Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend, and the college town of Bloomington. We understand these local worlds because we're part of them, and we honor the many intersecting identities — DeafBlind, Deaf+, and more — that make up the community, however you came to it.
