How we can help

Giving you the tools to build an authentic life

My Deaf Therapy’s clinicians promote health and wellness using a holistic approach to therapy while integrating proven, evidence-based treatment methods. We aim to help you achieve lasting, transformative life-affirming changes.

Primary treatment methods include:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy involves mindfully addressing life’s difficulties and acknowledging what is out of our control. When we have a negative mindset and dwell on things we cannot change in life we experience greater suffering. ACT uses your power of choice in how you think and act in order to shift your perspective, enabling you to reduce your experience of suffering.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT covers a broad range of therapeutic techniques where focus emphasizes the relationship between thoughts and behaviors. By identifying detrimental thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, you can learn to strategize positive ways to shift perspective, essentially improving overall mental functioning.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder, PTSD/trauma, suicidality, eating disorders, depression and anxiety. Focus is on developing mindfulness skills, acceptance and change (tolerating distressing situations), regulating emotions, and developing effective interpersonal skills.

Mindfulness-Based CBT

A client’s awareness of their feelings and behaviors are elevated while incorporating self-care and cognitive behavior techniques geared toward mediating and managing physical and mental health issues such as hypertension, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on developing awareness of how the unconscious mind can inadvertently influence our thoughts and behaviors. This is theoretically rooted in childhood experiences that have led to internalized belief systems.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

For those who experience attachment-related insecurities, the ability to trust and develop a healthy relationship with a loved one is hindered. In EFT, families and couples learn how to be empathically responsive to one another while listening with compassion and acceptance. This allows for the development of healthy, rewarding interactions.
