Meet Katie
(she, hers)
Katie McMahon is a Deaf Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). She is passionate about expanding access to mental health care for Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, Deaf+, late-deafened, and Child of Deaf Adults (CODA) signing communities, recognizing the ongoing shortage of Deaf and ASL-fluent therapists.
Katie has extensive experience supporting individuals navigating a range of mental health concerns, including trauma, crisis, and relationship challenges. She brings a deep understanding of the systemic and lived experiences within the Deaf community, including language deprivation, isolation, and barriers to accessible information and care. Her background includes providing mental health support across a variety of settings.
Her clinical focus includes self-esteem concerns, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), grief, personality disorders, and life transitions. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her work.
Katie provides a safe, nonjudgmental, and empowering space where clients can explore their experiences and work toward healing and growth. She is committed to delivering care within a Deaf-centered, linguistically accessible, and culturally affirming therapeutic environment.
Katie is licensed in Colorado, Florida, Maryland, and Texas. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.
