Meet Melissa

Melissa Healey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor at My Deaf Therapy. She is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and is fluent in American Sign Language.
Melissa’s therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based, solution-focused therapies with mind-body and somatic practices. Where appropriate, she incorporates techniques such as breathwork, mindfulness, and body awareness to support somatic healing. She tailors treatment to each client’s strengths and goals, using practical skills and strategies to support meaningful and sustainable progress.
Melissa is committed to providing care within a Deaf-centered, linguistically accessible, and culturally affirming therapeutic environment.
In addition to her clinical work, Melissa is a certified yoga teacher and birth doula, and is currently pursuing certification in Financial Therapy. She is also a scuba Divemaster candidate and an avid international traveler.
Melissa is accepting clients in Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, and Michigan. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.
EXPERIENCE
Melissa has over a decade of clinical experience working with families, children, and adults from diverse backgrounds challenged with a wide range of mental health issues, ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), and life stressors. She provides targeted mental health interventions for individuals, youth and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She believes in providing compassionate, strength-based therapies while working in tandem with her clients to develop sustainable strategies to increase overall mental wellness.
SPECIALTIES
Melissa specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, trauma, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and postpartum depression. In addition to working with Deaf individuals and CODAS (Children of Deaf Adults), she works with their hearing family members (siblings, parents, significant others). She works with members of the LGBTQA+ and BIPOC communities as well as the linguistically diverse deaf and hard of hearing population.
