Meet Rebecca

(she, her)

Rebecca McAllister is a hearing counseling intern at My Deaf Therapy and a graduate student at Gallaudet University, where she is pursuing her master’s degree, with an expected graduation in May 2027. She brings over fifteen years of professional experience as a nationally certified sign language interpreter (NIC, EIPA 4.0).

Rebecca earned her bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies from California State University, Northridge. She has completed specialized training in mental health interpreting and holds the Mental Health Interpreter Training–Qualified (MHIT-Q) certification.

Rebecca is deeply committed to advancing equitable mental health care for Deaf individuals. Her clinical interests include improving access to direct ASL-based mental health services and supporting clients within a Deaf-centered, linguistically accessible, and culturally affirming therapeutic environment. She values collaboration with Deaf mental health professionals, interpreters, and the broader Deaf community to expand both the quality and availability of care.
