Meet Simone

(she, her)

Simone Mau-Slone is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at My Deaf Therapy. She is a graduate student at Gallaudet University, pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an expected graduation in May 2026. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Denmark in 2018 and has worked with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing population in both Denmark and the U.S. since then. Her experience includes social work, mental health support, and advocacy with Deaf individuals and families.

Simone is deaf and fluent in American Sign Language, creating a safe and culturally affirming space for Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients. She views each client as a whole person and honors the uniqueness of their individual journey.

Her approach is shaped by her cross-cultural background, lived experience as a Deaf woman, and passion for trauma-informed care. Simone is especially interested in working with individuals, couples, and families navigating grief, relational challenges, trauma, and life transitions, anxiety, and depression. She is committed to ongoing learning and growth as a developing clinician.
