Meet Ryssa
(she, her, hers)
Ryssa Fleischer, AMFT, is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a clinical focus on trauma and interpersonal relationships. Her work in domestic violence has provided her with a deep understanding of how relationships—particularly intimate and family systems—shape an individual’s sense of connection, identity, and overall well-being. She has served as a domestic violence peer counselor, collaborating with community mental health agencies and local police departments to promote awareness of Deaf mental health and expand access to culturally and linguistically appropriate care.
Ryssa has extensive experience supporting Deaf survivors of domestic violence, sexual trauma, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). She works with clients navigating a range of concerns, including relationship difficulties, family conflict, bullying, toxic work environments, and life transitions.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in a family systems framework and emphasizes the importance of self-understanding within the context of relationships. She supports clients in developing insight into their thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns, with the goal of fostering resilience, self-awareness, and healthier connections with others. Ryssa brings a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental presence to her work, creating a safe and affirming space for clients to explore and process their experiences.
As a fifth-generation Deaf individual, Ryssa is fluent in American Sign Language and is deeply committed to expanding access to Deaf-centered, linguistically accessible, and culturally affirming mental health care. She is currently accepting clients in California. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.
EXPERIENCE
In addition to her work at My Deaf Therapy, Ryssa has counseled Deaf and hard of hearing survivors of domestic and sexual violence, intimate partner stalking, and child abuse at Peace Over Violence, a nationally recognized organization in Los Angeles.
